A Millie Kind of Day

My sweet Millie was under the weather today, so she was forced to spend the day, all by herself, no sisters, no cousins, just Millie and me. Suffice to say, her little illness did not keep her from having the best day ever. She had to reconfirm once or twice that she was going to, indeed be the soul grandchild in Mimi's care today. And she was very happy not to have to share!

Amelia Joyce is my second granddaughter. Mildred, as we like to call her, is kind of like a sourpatch kid. Very sweet and snuggly, but don't make her mad. Girl's got staying power. She can hold a grudge very solidly for remarkable timespans. And just when you think it's time to send her to the timeout chair, she emerges, all smiles and hugs and love.

I adore this little girl. She fits perfectly on the arm of my recliner, which is her favorite spot. She likes to snuggle under a blanket and color pictures for me. My front door, refrigerator, and office wall are papered with Millie's artwork. I love every single one of them.

Mildred has been terrified of Josie, my redbone coonhound, for as long as I can remember. She has also been the reluctant walker in my crew. When she was younger, she would always opt to stay home with Grampa while the other kids and I took Josie for a walk. Big milestone today! Not only did Millie initiate going for a walk, she got JoJo leashed up and took control of her the whole time! Way to go, Mildred! You make me one proud Mimi!
